★First Place★ Christstollen, a typical German Christmas sweet
When December begins and the people in Germany start decorating for the Christmas season, families will usually bake different types of sweet and savory snacks. A very traditional one is the so-called “Christstollen”, a sweet bread loaf with raisins, various nuts, and sometimes candied orange, lemon, and marzipan inside. Once out of the oven, you butter and sugar it on the top and leave it to rest between one to three weeks. Christstollen is one of the most famous German baked goods so that it is even exported during the Christmas season. The one you see in the picture is my first Christstollen this year to welcome the holiday season. It will not be the last one!
★Second Place★ The strawberry cake to eat under the blue sky
This is Bavaloa strawberry from a strawberry specialty shop in Kuni City, Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is a little different from the usual Bavaloa, and has a very cute strawberry shape. There is one whole grain of strawberry inside, and the sourness of the strawberry and the gentle sweetness of the milk Bavaloa matched exquisitely and tasted good. The day was a clear autumn and clear day, so I got to the nearby Izu Panorama Park saying, “Let’s eat it out!”
★Third Place★ Christmas Dark Chocolate Mousse
No doubt this is one of my favorite desserts for the Christmas Season, the plate is not a Mexican traditional one, but its ingredients are delicious. The combination of the semi-sweet dark chocolate soft and creamy mousse and the freshness and sweetness of strawberries is just great. Not only do I love it because it is tasty but because I love baking and cooking, and this is one recipe I enjoy preparing and eating either with a glass of wine or a cup of hot coffee.
Guava Cheesecake & Jelly
The perfect dessert and one of my favorites in both presentation cake and jelly. Made by tropical fruit cultivated in Mexico, from August through April, always with some Strawberry, Blackberry & Blue Berry at the Top. So cream cheese and soft that it will melt in your mouth while tasting the sweet Guava flavor that it’s perfect with a cup of coffee.
My Blooming Matcha Garden ^^
This is my favorite dessert that I have ever had : ) I am a matcha lover and green tea addict.
Every time I feel tension, Matcha and Green Tea are my other pills to cure my feeling and refresh me.
This dish is a good combination between Matcha Ice-Cream & Chocolate Lava Cake deliciously. When your tongue touches it, you will get a bitter & sweet taste and it will be melted in your mouth (>///<)
Healthy Holiday Sweets
Oct-Dec is pumpkin season in the United States. And pumpkin pie is a very popular dessert during our end of year holidays. But it’s difficult to find a gluten free option and I don’t bake 😊 So instead I make pumpkin pie chia pudding. With a little pureed pumpkin and some seasoning it tastes very close to pie. Plus, it’s healthy and easy!
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
These are the sweets I ate at the café in the New York Tiffany before COVID-19 happens. Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a well-known movie for Audrey Hepburn, It was not until quite recently that we were able to eat light meals. The sweets offered were also superb, and in particular the sweets with raspberry mousse were delicious. When you visit, it may be good to wear L’Interdit. If you have a chance, please try to go to the cafe.
Muffins in a special place of Atami! ~ With fruit tea ~
This is a muffin with white chocolate sauce that I ate the beginning of November. There were a lot of berries inside the muffins, and the sweetness of the white chocolate sauce and the sweetness and sourness of the berries were the very prominent muffins. The fruit on the outside was also very sweet, and the combination of the slightly bitter muffin and the vanilla ice cream to eat was superb. “The store name “”The Fairy of Flowers”” is also mysterious, and people eat sweets with a relaxing view of the ocean from the wall of the glass.” I spent a wonderful time This muffin is not a daily menu, so it may be difficult to eat it at a pinpoint, but I think there are other sweets of this quality, so I’m really looking forward to going there in the future. When I go to Atami again, I want to go eat seasonal parfaits too!
Tiramiù
Every year, I make “Tiramisu” for my wife’s birthday, but this is a dessert that you can enjoy all year round. I will make this dessert with the biscuit that my mother sent me from Italy. This is a simple and natural ingredient dessert using biscuits, eggs, milk, coffee (with the espresso! It’s the best!), sugar, vanilla, and cocoa powders. I love the balance between the sweetness of the cream and the bitterness of the coffee!!! Please let me know if you want to know the recipe of Tiramis in Italy!
Mango Parfait
This is the mango parfait I ate when I returned to my hometown in Miyazaki. I still can’t forget the cold and sweet taste of mango because I ate it in the hot Summer season. Miyazaki mango, called “Eggs of the Sun,” trades at high prices in Japan as well, but in many local markets Class B products are listed. It is a very easy-to-eat fruit in summer. I haven’t been able to return to my hometown because of the COVID-19, but I think I’d like to eat again in summer around this time.
Cheesecake Sticks
These are Cheesecake Sticks.
We made these cheesecake sticks ourselves for our daughter’s 4th birthday.
We first baked the cheesecake and then decorated it with chocolate and various sweets. In addition, ice sticks were put in it.
You don’t need cutlery to eat the cake. All the children and adults loved it. However, no one managed to eat more than one piece because the sticks are so sweet.
Rudolph
Hazelnut cream in Rudolph look decorated with sweets.
Christmas is coming, the year is coming to an end and all the years again accompany us old familiar songs, rituals, and habits.
Whether “Oh Tannenbaum”, “Silent night” or “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” may not be missing and belong to it. But what hardly anyone knows—Rudolph was once cast out by his herd because he was different with his bright red nose. But in the end, it was exactly this red, shining nose that Santa Claus spotted in the white snow in front of his sleigh that helped him find his way and made Rudolph something very special.
In this sense: “Everyone can be something SPECIAL”.
Merry Christmas!
Favorite German sweets of young and old!
We all love sweets, because they always put a smile on our faces, no matter how old we are! Here are four different sweets that everyone in Germany probably knows from his/her childhood and that are hard to resist. For this, I have prepared a special sweets presentation:
1) Candy with white chocolate and dark chocolate (Schokobons)
2) Orange-flavored and lemon-flavored candies (Nimm2)
3) Chocolate surprise egg (Überraschungsei)
4) Grape sugar chain (Traubenzuckerkette)
Whether for the next children’s birthday or as a gift for the next visit: sweets are always welcome. Especially those with a long tradition that still evoke the taste of our childhood.
