Let's share the happy news to encourage each other as "Polyplastics-Family"!

Actions you take for society

For those who want to do something good for people and society but don't know what to do, we collected and shared "Something good thing for society" actually conducted by Polyplastics Group members in this Share corner.

I volunteer for a non-profit organization that is focused on preserving Detroit’s historic places. Part of our mission is engaging and educating the community. So this year I built and installed a Little Free Library that provides free books to the community.

I have my own home decor / jewelry company where I make items and sell them and my mission is to give back to animals in need. To do so, 5% of all sales are donated to local animal rescue organizations. The majority of the home decor items are made from reclaimed materials meaning items are recycled instead of discarding, creating a more sustainable future for the environment.

The Super Heroes Egg Shells!

I love to use home remedies & natural cures. We could save some money and reduce our dependency on the chemical and non-biodegradable items. Too much chemical usage will give big impact to the ecosystem.
I start collecting eggshells after I plant the orchids. My daughter help me to crush the eggshells then together till them into the soil around the plants. I use rain water for plant watering. Save the bills!
The scattered egg shells become small birds’ food too.
It is my reward and stress reliever to hear the chirping flocks of birds while sighting the well -grown plant and beautiful flowers!
Other than use it as fertilizer, it also could be used as mulch to deter weeds and as pest control.
Not only fond of homemade aloe vera face mask, I also enjoy put the egg white on my face for the skin-tightening facial.
That’s all my small contribution using the eggshells to save the earth in a nutshell!

This year I was selected to join a running movement called NusantaRun where all participants present their contribution for others by run from one beautiful iconic place to another, in Indonesia, along with supporting crew on their side and others can participate by donating to their favorite runner and/or supporting crew.

NusantaRun self is entering the 7th year and hold the event of ultra-marathon run in December 6th – 8th 2019 with two categories of run which are Full Course (133KM) and Half Course (71KM) and luckily I have a chance to join the Half Course run and finished it in 19 hours and 9 minutes. The fundraising money will be donated for Ohana Foundation Indonesia to supporting the student athlete with disabilities.
This is my first ultra-marathon and farthest distance I’ve ever ran. The reason I eagerly join this movement because I believe that everyone has same opportunity and as a junior athlete myself during school days, I understand that every support is matter. In the future I would love to keep support this movement, either as a event volunteer or as a runner.

Monika, LCPG’s operator works as a volunteer for the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW). The THW is a civil protection and defense organization and was formed in 1950. The THW has four main tasks: technical assistance in civil defense, technical assistance in abroad (last year the THW were in action in 20 countries), technical assistance in civil protection and the fulfillment of public tasks.
For instance THW volunteers build dams from sandbags to protect buildings from high tide.
Since 2004, Monika has joined this organization because it is important for her to help other people in distress and to work in a team.
Monika and other volunteers always set new goals. Important goals for the next year are to improve the Operational readiness, the expert knowledge and all skills in technical equipment.

Together with some volunteer members of the PPC, I joined in the volunteer activity in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, which was damaged by Typhoon No. 19 and worked to clean out the mud in the gutter around a house near the river that flooded.
A lot of mud in the about 30-meter-long gutter was cleaned out by 10 volunteers, including 5 PPC members.
The work progressed smoothly in total, but it was very tough for me because of too heavy mud.
We had a chance to talk to the inhabitant of this house. She said that she had been trying to clean out the mud in her house and garden every day by herself for more than two weeks after the disaster.
I thought she had not only physical fatigue, but also mental stress.
If there is any opportunity, I would like to participate in such volunteer activity again.

Comment from P-Mates Editorial team
I was amazed that the activities PPC Group members were working on were more than I expected. I personally like the idea of using egg shells, and I would like to try it myself. A small effort is fine. Why don't you take the first step first?
