From 25 Stang coin to 1,000 Baht Bank Note./

In this world there are various country using their own currency. In Thailand also has a long history of our own currency since Kingdom foundation to the present. We can say that the Thai currency has been developed with the times.

At present, we have coins and banknotes with different value from the lowest to the highest value. I will introduce to you later. But first you need to know the unit of Thai currency which I can describe to you from the smallest unit we call “Stang” then the bigger and biggest unit “Baht”. The smallest unit or “Stang” which we also still use currently counts from 1-100 Stang, and 100 Stang is 1 Baht.

In Thailand we have 2 kinds of Stang coin which is 50 Stang and 25 Stang. The smallest is a coin of 25 Stang. I introduce head side which shows you the picture of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the Thai character that identifys his name and his reign “The Rama 9”. The other side shows picture of temple which is “Mahatat Worawihan Temple” , one of famous temple in Thailand and the character around picture show the word “ Thailand”, year of production and its value of 25 Stang. If compared Japanese yen or USD, 25 Stang is worth around 0.78 Yen or 0.0008 USD.

The highest value of Thai banknote is 1,000 Baht which launched in 2005. Both side shows picture of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in two style of suit. Front side shows The King in royal army uniform next to the left is Rama 9 logo and character “Thai Government” beside to the left. On the top left shows “The Garuda”, the signature of Thailand. Moreover it also shows the value of 1,000 Baht and banknote number in English and Thai alphabet. If you turn on, you can see The King in his working suit contain by back ground picture of “Pasak Chonlasit Dam” and “Sufficient Economy Project” which both of them are his royal idea. This page also shows you “The Garuda” and 1,000 Baht value as well. If compared with Japanese yen or USD, 1,000 Baht is worth around 3,125 Yen or 32 USD.

The simple way to learn each country’s basic history or culture is to observe their coin and banknote because they always show on it.
