Sidewalk in Fuji Plant /

Topics PPC Vol.83

Until now there were no sidewalks at any of the plants, including the Fuji Plant, in the Polyplastics Group. However, because of an accident that occurred in FY2016 resulting in injury when a forklift collided with a person walking along the road, the necessity for providing separate areas for pedestrians and vehicles was taken into consideration.

At the Fuji Plant, we examined the possibility of constructing a sidewalk along the main road in the plant grounds. Part of the grassy area bordering the road was turned into a sidewalk in order to leave the road as wide as possible for vehicles drive on without trouble. The sidewalk was completed in May 2018.

Unfortunately the grass that was left doesn't grow very well anymore and is far from its original condition, but we are planning to take measures to improve the growth and appearance of the grass.

Before

After

By providing separate areas for pedestrians and vehicles, we are able to prevent collisions and close calls from vehicles passing very close by pedestrians, and also provide a safer environment for conducting plant tours.
When you visit the Fuji Plant, be sure to have a look at our sidewalk.
