My daughter enjoys her dancing and badminton after school /

COLUMN PTM Vol.83

Nowadays, parents in China pay more and more attention to the all-round development of their children. They choose various after-school activities which provide a way for children to relax after working hard at school, give children opportunities to learn how to work in groups, including learning how to share, how to negotiate and how to resolve conflicts and build a team spirit amongst the children.

Badminton, dancing, drawing, zither, guitar or even fencing…all these are quite popular in China, and not only students in primary school but also in junior high school are quite enjoying it. My daughter likes dancing and badminton as after-school activities. She feels quite happy or excited. She said:” I can have more new friends from different schools, get new knowledge in addition to the knowledge acquired in school and special fun because most of us are single child in family.”
In a word, in addition to school, after-school activities have become the “second classroom” for the children in China and play important roles.
