Topics PPC Vol.66

Former President Hikoichi Konishi passed away this year in May at the age of 93.

Mr. Konishi joined what is now Daicel Corporation in 1949. He was appointed as a director after serving in a number of capacities including as plant manager of Daicel’s Kanzaki Plant. Later, he served as representative director and president of Dainippon Plastics Co., Ltd., and as representative director and president of what is now Daicel-Evonik Ltd. Then in 1979, Mr. Konishi was appointed senior managing director of Polyplastics. Until he retired in 1995, Mr. Konishi contributed tremendously to the company by actively investing in research and development, equipment, and human resources. His motto was “Tomorrow better than today, the day after tomorrow better than tomorrow.”

The farewell gathering was held for former President Konishi at PPC in gratitude for his many contributions. More than 100 people including representatives from customer companies, persons retired from Daicel and Polyplastics, and other close friends of the deceased gathered together at the Hilton Hotel in Osaka to honor the memory of Mr. Konishi.

The venue was filled with floral tributes and an exhibit of personal belongings of Mr. Konishi. A slide show of pictures that brought back fond memories presented a visual description of the life and times of Mr. Konishi. The gathering was a time for people to reminisce about and commemorate the deceased.

It is our heartfelt prayer for Mr. Hikoichi Konishi that his soul rest in peace.
