Topics PCL Vol.66

Butter Workshop

PCL employees went on a 20th anniversary company trip to Hokkaido from May 15-18, as we also reported in the special feature. The employees had long wanted to visit Hokkaido, so each of them took home lots of good memories. In this issue, PCL Topics presents comments by some of the PCL staff members who look back on the PCL 20th anniversary company trip.

Mr. Tsukamoto :
I’ve taken several trips to Hokkaido, but this trip with my colleagues at PCL was a fresh experience for me and I enjoyed myself thoroughly. All of the food was delicious, of course. Anyway, we sure ate a lot! In addition to all the food that was part of the dinner course people also ordered sea urchin, salmon roe, and broadfin thornyhead fish all served raw, scallops…”Just how much extra food is everyone going to order?!” I wondered. But we all ate up everything down to the last bite. For me, the trip was four days of realizing how fortunate I am to be working in the company with such a vigorous and friendly group of colleagues.

Mr. Ohhaba :
There were a lot of candidates for where to go on the 20th anniversary company trip. I was surprised at how popular Hokkaido was as a destination.
It was cold enough that I needed a coat, which was a little disappointing, and I got another surprise when I saw people stuffing down ice cream in such cold weather.
Most of the people on the staff have worked for the company a long time, so they are all good friends.
It was heartwarming to see their eyes light up at all the seafood and to see everyone in high spirits, excitedly taking pictures at the tourist spots. I found myself feeling somewhat envious of the history they shared.
I didn’t think that it was right for me to go along on the trip, because it’s only been one year since I arrived at my new post at PCL. But I spent an extremely enjoyable time on the trip with the PCL staff.
Thank you very much.

Mr. Zalman Lai :
This is the first company trip in PCL. Majority of our staff joined this trip and we had a good time together. On these few days, there was no need to worry about the sales and orders, as a result, all our colleagues became much more released. Some of our staff started to behave slightly different than we usually see him/her in office - it is difficult to describe in detail, but you just feel there was some different. - in a good sense. May be it is the real us that we are disclosing to our colleagues. I think we should have such kind of trip organized regularly.

Mr. Cliff Chan :
It is definitely a memorable trip to me. Having working in PCL for over 19 years, it was the very first company trip that we ever had. Although the cold and rainy weather (as low as 6 degree C in mid-May) caught us off guarded, it was also a lubricant of bonding us closer. We “stick together” and keep each other warm and company. I witness many scenes of “sharing” during the whole trip: shopping strategies to begin with, then from delicious food to not-so-pleasant Panadol medicine & touchy keeping warm items to even sharing some epics of life in the hotel rooms when the night had come! I wish the next company trip would not be far away from now.

Ms. Amiee Chan :
I'm Amiee Chan. This was my first company trip with PCL members since I joined PCL in mid-2007. Beautiful scenery and a great variety of seafood in Hokkaido are attracted me most. We concerned and took care of each other when we were experiencing an unexpected cold and rainy weather in the 4-day trip. It was really enjoyable and memorable moments of us that we achieved the goal together (butter making) during the team building activity with non-stop laughing.

Mr. Ming Chung :
Firstly, I have to say thank you to PCL since she gave me a chance to visit Hokkaido which was first time in my life.
This was also the first company trip since I have joined PCL in 2006. The weather there was rainy and abnormally cold, also the food, beer and wine over there are very delicious, as a result I kept eating and drinking all the time. Then I have received a reward as additional 2kg fat after returning to HK.
I believe we all had a great time and memories in Hokkaido, for myself, I remember the first night we, the boys group have causal talks in the hot spring, the atmosphere was very relaxing and free. Also, in the second and the third night, some of us went to sport centers for mini sport games with each other was also unforgettable moments for me.
Finally, hope we will have a chance to go for next trip in the near future.

Ms. Vivian Wong :
I had been working at PCL around 1 year. Hokkaido company trip was my first time of oversea trip with my colleagues, at the beginning, I felt a bit nervous because stay outside with colleagues for a few days, but it was fantastic and unforgettable company trip.

It was a cold and rainy company trip, we stayed in hot-spring hotel and we spent most of our time in sightseeing and shopping. We went a lot of famous place, such as, Otaru Canal, Sapporo Clock Tower, Noboribetsu-onsen, Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe, etc. It was so excited to see King Penguins walk in front of tourist and took lots of photos with them. Moreover, we spend our first time of butter making, it was so interesting.

It was a wonderful experience for me, and I hope we will have another great company trip in future to closer colleagues’ relationship.
