Introducing Technologies that Communicate Worksites: Innovation Show 2014 /

News 2 Vol.66

This year’s Innovation Show was held for three days on July 8-10 at the Fuji TSC.
This year the total number of visitors during the three-day period was 692, a record high. The show gave visitors the opportunity to learn about our company’s technologies. A theme is set each year for Innovation Show. The theme this time was “Hands-On Experience of Polyplastics’ Solution Technologies.” The show focused on promoting understanding of the company’s technologies by giving visitors the opportunity to view and touch objects so that they could get a sense of the various worksites.

Presented at the venue were 30 poster displays introducing technologies and resin products, 3 oral sessions on themes such as the company’s strategic direction for raw material solutions, and demonstrations of molding and testing equipment. Many visitors took the guided tour, which has become another popular feature of Innovation Show in the past few years. The tour covered the entire show and guides provided visitors with explanations of what they were seeing.
The docents at the worksites took small groups of visitors through the venue, politely explaining everything and answering all of the visitors’ questions. This gave visitors a chance to experience one of the main components of the corporate philosophy, Polyplastics-Way, in action.

On the morning of the first day of the show, a preview was held for company employees to introduce company technologies. For employees who normally have few chances to visit the worksites of relevant departments, it was a good opportunity to learn about technologies.

A survey was conducted at the venue to obtain feedback from visitors on solution technologies they would be interested in introducing immediately. It also measured their level of satisfaction with the show.

◆Top-ranking solution technologies visitors want to introduce immediately◆

—AKI-Lock
—AdvaThermo® Thermal Insulation Molding Technology
—Laseridge® Joining Technology for Metal and Plastic, PAL-fit®
—Joining Technology for Integral Molding of Metal and Plastic
—Super-high flow PBT SF Series
—RENSEI Analysis® for lightweight design taking into consideration resin properties
—New x-ray computed tomography applications

About 86% of the visitors surveyed answered that they were “satisfied or somewhat satisfied” with Innovation Show.
We received a comment from the supervisor that sixty-five percent of the visitors to this year’s Innovation Show were first time visitors and many of them were young persons, so future tasks for Innovation Show would be to raise the rate of repeat visitors and key persons in a position to influence their company’s selection of plastics materials, and also to raise the level of satisfaction with the show.
As a base for technology transmission, we anticipate that the Fuji TSC will offer an even better Innovation Show next year. We’re looking forward to reporting on it.
