Global Personnel Management System and Training /

News 1 Vol.66

Did you know that now more than half of the employees in the Polyplastics Group are nationalities other than Japanese? We have begun implementing a personnel management system on a group-wide basis so that the Polyplastics Group is able to grow into an even more globally oriented company. In this article, P-mates introduces the system and the training involved.

What is Global Grading System?
Have you heard about the global grading system we introduced in April 2013? The new system forms the base for clearly defining and classifying employees in management and supervisorial positions and also for globally introducing policies and measures related to components of the personnel management system such as the systems for evaluation, education and training.

Global grading categorizes group employees into three grades: P1, P2, and P3. One of the personnel management measures implemented based on these grades is training with the objective of providing employees with the abilities and skills required for each grade.

Trainings
We started last year by conducting a New P2 Training course for employees who advanced to grade P2. The course, introduced group-wide, is a reworked version of the training provided to newly appointed divisional and departmental managers at PPC.

The next step was to conduct P2 Management Training and P3 Training courses this year for P2 and P3 grade upper-level managers in the group companies. The theme for the P2 Management Training course conducted at PSL in July was “Maximizing organizational performance to expand our global presence.” Ten persons in our group companies participated in the training course. The P3 Training course provides training in solving worksite problems and value creation. This year, a total of 45 persons from our group companies in Greater China (PSL, PCL, PTM), PAP, and PPC participated. Beginning next year, the course will be offered to a broader range of group companies and conducted at the participating companies. The content of the training course offered at each company, conducted by the Global Human Resources Department in cooperation with each company’s personnel department, will be nearly the same.

The Global Human Resources Department will work together with the personnel departments in each group company to promote the increasing global development of the Polyplastics Group and to introduce and put into operation personnel management measures such as development of human resources on a global scale.
