COLUMN PAP Vol.66

Malaysia is a place which has multiple races and therefore they will have varieties of games for both adults and children.

One of the famous games in Malaysia is Table tennis. Table tennis was created in 1881 by bored British Officers who carved a ball from champagne cork and used cigar box covers to bat it back and forth across a barrier of books dividing a table. Of course the sport has changed drastically in the past century, and it has become much popular.

Table tennis can be played by anyone of any age, however less than 1 % of these players actually play competitively. Before that, it was played at parties and was just for fun. In fact, during the early 1900’s, the paddles were made like tennis rackets, with long handles and a pear shaped playing surface.

In PAP, the new Table tennis facility was provided by Sport and Recreation Club since 22 March 2005. Participants were encouraging and some staff has to book in advance just to play the game.

The objective of this game is just to promote healthy life style, inter department relationship and to improve employee’s motivation beside hardworking at office.

We have added this game as part of our yearly activities where we hope that we can total participation from all level of staff.
