2. Self-Defense Fire Brigade Wins 3rd Place in Fire Pump Operation Competition Sponsored by Fuji City

On October 19 (Sunday), the Self-Defense Fire Brigade Fire Pump Operation Competition was held. Polyplastics' self-defense fire brigade won 3rd place in the Small Pump Operation category.
Companies in Fuji City with self-defense fire brigades gather for the competition, which is held every year in mid-October by the Fuji City Fire Protection Association.

Competitors in the Small Fire Pump category vie for the best time and accuracy of movement in pump operation, which involves coupling a small portable fire pump to a water hydrant and three hoses and then spraying water on the target.
Beginning in September, the members of the fire brigade team trained twice a week on weekdays from 4:40 in the afternoon until dark. It was tough to train after work when everyone was tired, but the team encouraged each other and gave their best to the practices. The team cited problems such as not having all the members together for some of the practices because of business trips or for other reasons.

Fire Brigade Leader: Motohito Hiragouri (Process Technology Division)
Fire Brigade Commander: Ryousuke Watanabe (Production Department Machinery Group)
Member 1: Yutaka Kubota (RDC)
Member 2: Takashi Nozawa (Compound Technology Group)
Member 3: Yasuyuki Asahina (TSC)
Assistant: Hitoshi Maeda (RDC)

The team owed its 3rd place victory to hard practice and the support of many people including the leader and assistant leader of the fire brigade and the graduates of the power pump squad. On the day of the competition, the employees in the Safety and Environment Department and the families of the fire brigade team members turned out to cheer the team on, so it turned out to be a really great competition. Thanks to all the team members for their hard work!!

Representatives from China Engineering Plastic Industry Association (CEPIA) Visit Polyplastics

On October 15 (Wednesday), twenty-two representatives from China Engineering Plastic Industry Association visited the company and toured the plant and the TSC.

CEPIA was established by China Petroleum & Chemical Industry Association, a special organ of China's Ministry of Commerce, to further develop and promote the domestic engineering plastics industry. CEPIA has more than 200 members whose activities include holding technical exchange meetings and exhibitions, and publishing an engineering plastics magazine.

The representatives who toured the TSC were surprised at its full lineup of measuring instruments. They also expressed interest in COC resin and halogen-free PBT.

In the evening, a dinner meeting was held at the Prince Hotel Shinagawa, which gave everyone a chance to get better acquainted. It was a very productive gathering.

We interviewed CEPIA's Secretary General Zheng Kai about his thoughts on the visit to Japan. Here is what he said (part of the comments have not been included).

"What impressed me the most is Polyplastics' environmental protection effort. You have already built a base and are working to strengthen it. For example, use of materials such as the low-VOC materials in DURACON-XAP and the materials used in the halogen-free DURANEX XFR series. Everything I saw and heard was new to me. Also, most of the companies I've visited in the past have just introduced all of the good aspects of material performance. But more than that, Polyplastics has a lot to say about its focus on the environment, how it is working to improve the environment, and how it is working to fulfill corporate social responsibilities. I really learned a lot.
I feel that this visit helped to deepen the friendly relationship between CEPIA and Japan's Polyplastics and understanding between Chinese and Japanese companies, and strengthened the desire to develop and grow together."

Promotion of a barrier-free environment of technical solution center (TSC)

The technical solution center is a company facility visited by customers and many other persons from outside the company. Part of the TSC has been made barrier-free, because we want to make it as pleasant as possible for visitors to use. First, slopes were added to the front entrance, which is the part of the facility that visitors use the most. And automatic doors were installed to replace double doors that must be opened manually. Also, a restroom that can be used by people in wheelchairs was added on the fifth floor.
