Mr.Tang Chen joined Production Department of PTM in October 2009, and worked as an operator for about 6 years. Then he got a chance and transferred to Production Department of PNL, a new factory of Polyplastics Group since February 2016. His new position is an assistant engineer.
Now let’s listen to Mr. Chen Tang’ story to learn about his career in PTM/PNL and how he realized a career change.

Q: First of all, please tell us about your current job.

A: My current position is an assistant engineer of Production Department in PNL. I am mainly responsible for SPP (solid phase polycondensation) process and system debugging, system operation. I also take charge of management of site personnel, for example, younger operators’ daily management. I give them operation guidance and manage their training.

Q: Please kindly let us hear what kind of career path Polyplastics provided you to speed up your growth.

A: As you may know, I was recruited as an operator of PTM in 2005 after I graduated from the university. At that time, my main job was DCS (Distributed Control System) operation. In 2015, PNL, a new factory was established and they needed to recruit new staffs. I applied for the position of assistant engineer and got the chance to have an interview. The acceptance rate was 1:5 but I luckily got the position, and transferred to PNL since February 2016. Some experts from PPC gave us 3-month internal training at first. The training enhanced my professional knowledge and skills and was very useful for me to get familiar with my new job in the short term.

Q: How would you describe your future career challenge as a member of Polyplastics? Do you have any other experiences to share with us?

A: At the new position, I have the responsibility to do personnel management. I think it is a challenge for me since I have few management experiences. I’d like to improve my skills by taking trainings in the future.
I’m really appreciated that the company gave me the chance for my career development. Finally, I would like to give the following words as our mutual encouragement:
1. Develope good work habits, such as making unambiguous daily work plan, prioritize your jobs properly and understand your work. If you have time, try to write down the work plan and work log also.
2. Experience is accumulated through continuous exercises. Don’t be fastidious and impatient, do more and speak less.
3. There must be goals and directions for every job. The goals should be fairly clear in every division.
