"How did Innovation Show 2018 go? " We asked an executive committee member! /

News 2 Vol.81

Innovation Show 2018 was held from April 18-20 at PPC's Technical Solution Center in Fuji area.
There was a great turnout of 871 customers over the three-day period, and especially on the last day the show set a record-high of 339 visitors in one day.

We asked one of the executive committee members, Ozeki-san, to give us his thoughts on this year's Innovation Show.

―What was the aim of this year's show?

Our aim was to instill in both customers with much experience and authority to decide on materials (current key persons) and customers who are plastics beginners (future key persons) the thinking that "Polyplastics is the company to consult with on engineering plastics."

―Is there anything special you did in presenting the exhibits?

Near the posters presenting technologies, we exhibited the samples of material which can make it easier for the customers to understand the characteristics of materials than before and also more videos of experiments in order to have customers stop to "look and touch" and directly experience our technologies.

―Were there any exhibits that particularly attracted attention?

Customers showed much interest in the demonstrations of bonding technology, molding technology, and evaluation technology, and the poster exhibit of POM high sliding grades, as they do every year. And this year’s new exhibit "Market Trends" (featuring resins related to EV and automatic drive) also attracted a lot of attention.

―Did customers express their thoughts about the show?

We received many evaluations and comments such as "The poster exhibits and explanations by employees were detailed, thorough, and easy to understand," and "The show made it clear that your technologies are high level and that you are a reliable resin manufacturer."

―Are there any of the technologies exhibited this year that you want all Polyplastics group members to know about?

I would like to introduce VUV bonding technology, which is one of the technologies for bonding dissimilar materials that the company is considering. This is a technology that bond materials chemically by irradiating their surfaces with ultraviolet light. We don’t need to melt the materials. There is increasing need in the market for bonding of dissimilar materials, so we exhibited the technology in the show again this year as we did last year.

―It's a little early, but please tell us what you are eager to do for next year's show?

Pretty soon we'll start working on the plan for next year's show. We want to brush up the plan based on requests and questionnaire results we received this year to make next year's Innovation Show another one that will lead to raising Polyplastics' value.

―Thank you very much!
