Life in Japan, on Secondment /

Topics PPC Vol.72

Moving overseas for "a year or two" would certainly be challenging and interesting. But we may have obstacles to overcome in the beginning period such as language, cultural differences, food and we may become homesick. Hands-on international experience can be a great career booster for each person. I think "I could change more than I realize", hence, I chose to take secondment .Since April, 2015, I started my secondment life in Japan.

No matter managers or colleagues in headquarters, they show their kindness to me. Though I cannot speak Japanese, everyone is willing to speak English and a little bit of Chinese to me. It does really eliminate a lot of anxiety and tension of me. But for me, language is still the problem I need to overcome because mainly information is Japanese version that I need to figure out. Sincerely thanks for my team members who help to translate and share information with me.

"Cost Leadership, Differentiation, Focus", when facing flexible market, to create more profit and save more cost is must for a company. In headquarters, it is rich in resources and has more complex organzition than affiliates. Now I am working at Logistics Strategy Group, how to put theory into practice is a challenge especially in complex organization.

About my life in Japan, I made many friends here. Thanks for taking care of me and let me feel not so lonely. From spring to winter; from cherry blossoms season to snow season, one year passed, I went to many places and experienced Japanese culture. The most impressive thing on me is Japanese people have an attitude of earnest and polite.I am glad that I can experience my secondment life here.

There is still one more year for me to stay in Japan. I would like to visit lots of places and experience more Japanese culture. Regarding my job, I am in the hope to contribute more continuously - "Make the best possible use of talent and materials".
