Mr. Scott Klingler, a newly joined sales director of PolyUS came over to Japan for orientation, visiting the customers and many business meetings from Feb. 21 to Mar. 4, 2016. “P-Mates” interviewed with Scott-san for introducing himself and his impressions during the trip.

Would you kindly introduce yourself?
My name is Scott Klingler (Sales Director – Polyplastics USA, Inc.). My career in Automotive Polymers spans over 26 years, specializing in POM/PBT/PPS. I have experienced many different aspects in the areas of CAE, Application Development, Sales, and OEM Global Management. 10 years ago, I had the opportunity to work as a liaison while employed at Ticona. I thought Polyplastics core values and commitment to customer requirements while forming a true working partnership is something I have always admired. That’s the trigger to join to Polyplastics, and I am excited to be a part of this amazing team.

On the other hand, I am the proud father of two daughters, and I can’t forget our adorable dog Koda. My free time is full of many activities and hobbies: Racing Vintage Go-Karts all over the Mid-West, Beach Volleyball, Target Shooting (Pistols), and spending time with my daughters.

What were your impressions of the orientation and meetings in Japan?
Orientation…… normally not something most new employees truly enjoy – but I must admit the process within Polyplastics has been extremely helpful, well put together, and very important to many aspects of my position.
And I had many opportunities to participate in so many impressive areas of our business; especially our sales teams in Nagoya and Tokyo were able to confirm meetings with High Level decision makers at major enterprises. During many of these meetings I was given contacts in the USA (both Japanese and American) to strengthen our relationship and market share within the Tier. This showed me the value and commitment our Tier base has with Polyplastics.
I am very grateful to all of you in the Tokyo, Nagoya, and Fuji offices that spent a great deal of time with me during my trip to Japan. You made me feel very welcome and a true part of Polyplastics…Thank You!

Finally, please tell us your goals and objectives at PolyUS.
Growing our market share and promoting the Polyplastics brand is the goal for every employee at Poly USA. Open communication and teamwork are vital to show global support for our business, many challenges can be easily avoided with an open mind to regional/cultural changes as we all learn from each other. I do not believe there is only one way to succeed, what works in Japan may not work in the USA without some adjustments related to the local business culture. My goal is to provide a harmonized blend of Japanese and local business culture in order to maximize our efforts. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with a talented group of people at Poly USA and Polyplastics Globally, thank you for allowing me to become a part of the Polyplastics family.

Scott-san, we all proudly welcome you to Polyplastics!! Thank you for your time and comments.
