Wonderful journey to Malacca, Malaysia /

Topics PAPS Vol.72

PAPS 2015 has successfully organized a company trip to Malacca, Malaysia on 28 and 29 November 2015. It is an unforgettable trip for all the 18 staff members, and they really enjoyed not only shopping and local delicacies, but also the time all of us stayed together as one family.

The trip was started with the usual sights of the hustle bustle at Woodlands Checkpoint and Johor Bahru Custom & Immigration Quarantine (CIQ) before stopping over at the famous Mushroom Farm, at JB for breakfast. It was simple breakfast, but all of us seemed to be satisfied with the beautiful scenery and smile from the members.

Thereafter, we continued with our journey along the North South Highway towards the Air Keroh direction in the north. Unlike Singapore, both sides of the highway were covered with hilly and greenery views which was so relaxing. The bus journey took about three hours before we arrived at the famous local restaurant named L.T.P Teo Zhou Restaurant for our sumptuous lunch at the heart Malacca city. Our first sightseeing destination was at the great centuries old A’Famosa building, St Paul’s Hill, Christ Church and Cheng Hong Teng Temple where the organizer held a game to engender team spirit.

The participants were splited into 4 groups and differentiated with color caps. The game was simple. Each group was given basic directional information to locate several iconic buildings and food stalls within the city. Everybody was seen enjoying the game so much.

Our last destination for that day was to shop along Jonker Street, a center street of Chinatown. It was once renowned for its antique shops, however over the years it has turned to clothing and crafts outlets as well as restaurants. The best part of Jonker Street is the night market that sells everything from tasty treats to cheap keepsakes. Some of us bought dozens of “Pineapple Tarts”, Kuih Bangkit and Baba Nyonya handicraft for sharing with their family and friends. Subsequently, we’re brought to the famous Nyonya Restaurant for dinner followed by River Cruise tour before retiring at Holiday Inn Hotel.

The winner of the game was announced in the next morning just after our breakfast at the hotel. Kam san group comprising of Bessho san, Siew Foong san and Levon san was emerged as a Champion.

It was an unforgettable overseas trip and all of us are now looking forward for another trip, another opportunity to get together to further strengthen the spirit of camaraderie.
