Cherry festival in Naumburg /

COLUMN LCPG Vol.72

“Naumburger Kirschfest-Naumburger Cherry Festival” is held on every June in our famous wine region near Leuna.

The festival has a long tradition.
Find as the 16th century in the old council bills spending on a children's festival. Since the 17th century bringing the party with the legendary siege of Naumburg by the Hussites in conjunction.

The school teacher had sent children dressed in white Büßerhemdchen to the gates, to ask the Hussite commander Prokop for mercy. Then, Prokop presented the children cherries.

This festival becomes the traditional core of the folk festival, which is intended with a scenic view of the events.

Today, everybody from our region tries to join the festival. As well, always one or more of our colleagues from LCP Leuna are part. There are a big parade, a lot of bands with live-music, games for children and a 3 days ongoing party for adults and kids enjoying wine from the vineyards nearby.
