In China, we have a celebration for baby when he/she is one year old to wish his/her healthy growth. It is called “ZHUA ZHOU”.
Family will let their baby put on new clothes and invite relatives and friends to hold a dinner party. The red eggs will be prepared for guests on the dinner table. During dinner, host family tells everyone about the story of the baby’s birth. Of course, everyone also give baby a present like golden lock (Moral of lock is long life), toys, and new dress and so on.
On the same day, there will play a game because of a very old belief that it can augur the baby's future. The adults will put all kinds of goods like books, abacus, and pen and so on in front of the baby. Then everyone will observe it stealthily which things the child will bring first. When the child catch one of them, friends and relatives will applaud and praise with their blessing.
