How long haven’t you written a letter and used stamps? There were some people who collect stamps for sheer enjoyment and relaxation. Postage stamp collecting began at the same time that stamps were first issued in 1840.

Stamp collector can learn history, culture and plant of a country by collecting stamps. Do you know when was the first stamp issued in Taiwan? In 1913, ChunghWa Post issued the first set of postage stamps.

Stamps issued by ChunghWa the most was about agriculture and historic man, ex: Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, or memorial events. Take Ten Major Construction Projects for example. Ten Major Construction Project which was promoted by the government from the late 1960s to 1979 had positive impact on economic recovery and growth at that time. To commemorate this success, ChunghWa Post issued a set of memorial stamps.

Stamp collector is getting fewer nowadays. We used our smart phone to send message whenever/whatever we like. Don’t you want to recall the feeling when you sent your first latter? Here is an interesting service held by ChunghWa Post. This service is called “Mail to future,” means you can send a letter to future yourself. After finishing writing a letter which is supposed to be sent to future, you can even use a stamp pictured yourself!
