Local Junior High Students Visit Fuji Plant for Hands-On Worksite Experience

Every year, PPC receives students from a junior high school in the Fuji area for hands-on worksite experience. Students visit local companies and spend two days actually working at the worksite to learn about what working in a company involves. The program aims to give students experience that is helpful to them in making future career choices.

Four students from nearby Tagoura Junior High School visited the Fuji Plant and participated in the hands-on worksite experience, which was held for two days on October 31 and November 1, 2013. On the first day, they took a tour of the Fuji Plant and the TSC showroom and then attended a lecture at JUKU School to learn about how safety management is implemented at PPC. On the second day, the students visited the Quality Control Department where they experienced physical properties measurement and the MI (melt index measurement) test. The students were a little nervous, as their tense expressions revealed, but they worked very carefully performing the physical properties measurements.

PPC participates in this program with the objective of maintaining harmonious relations with the community. We also hope to provide students with an experience that will encourage them to think in greater depth about the kind of work they would like to do in the future.

Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Message Broadcast on the Radio!

On November 5, Radio F (a community FM radio station in the Fuji area) did a public live broadcast in the parking lot in front of the company’s Research and Development Center. “Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Message Live,” a 10-minute radio program broadcast every week on Tuesday at 2 pm, introduced Polyplastics’ disaster prevention efforts.

Mr. Suzuki in the Safety and Environment Department and Ms. Koremura in the General Affairs Department cooperated in the radio program’s coverage of our company.
Mr. Suzuki answered the question “What is of most importance when a disaster occurs?” by saying “How well we are able to protect human life is of the first importance. In order to do this successfully, we hold disaster prevention drills and evaluate the seismic capacity of our company buildings.” Ms. Koremura took a ‘Yes or No Quiz’ for disaster prevention. She also read a message pledging that she would reconfirm that the furniture and other large objects in her home were properly anchored so that they would not fall over in an earthquake.

It is difficult to predict when a natural disaster will occur. Let’s make the effort to take precautionary measures on a regular basis.

Introduction of new reporter

Hello, everyone. I’m Yuriko Morita. I joined Polyplastics last year in June and am a member of the corporate communication team in the General Administration Department. Before joining the company, I worked for about eight years at an exhibition hall. This is my first experience to be involved in internal communications issues. Everyone on the team is very supportive and I’m learning a lot every day. From now on, I am looking forward to learning through P-Mates about the countries and daily life of Polyplastics’ employees around the world. I love to travel, so I’m also hoping I will have the chance to visit your country someday.
