My daughter is usually a very picky eater and generally eats only a few types of American food such as pizza, hot dogs and macaroni & cheese.
Surprisingly, she likes my homemade Shrimp Stir Fry made in the wok, especially the vegetables such as water chestnuts, bok choi, snow peas and small ears of corn. |

This is a famous Japanese dish called "Buri-daikon," boiled yellowtail and Japanese radish. Yellowtail is one of the most popular fish in Japan. Yellowtails caught in winter have plenty of fat, so I always look forward to the winter season. This is a dish that uses the bony parts of the fish boiled with Japanese radish and flavored with soy sauce. If yellowtail is boiled as is, it's too strong-smelling. Preventing this is where cooks get to show their skill. Another thing that needs to be done before boiling the pieces of Japanese radish is to round the edges of the slices so that the pieces won't get mushy when they are boiled. |
