June 1, 2013 was an exciting day for our group as Polyplastics Jakarta Representative Office commenced its activities in Indonesia. The Jakarta office is situated slightly south from the centre of Jakarta, and in an office building which also housed the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia. Mr Haruji Murakami manages this office together with his assistant, Miss Gusty. Despite its small size, the Jakarta office is tasked with a big mission to expand Polyplastics’ business and strengthen the company’s position in Indonesia. To achieve this, Murakami san’s daily activities include visiting customers, gathering vital industrial information, developing new potential customers and cultivating good relationship with top management of key customers. Challenges faced by Murakami san include cultural shock, such as daily heavy traffic while he tries to navigate through the streets of Jakarta. However, Murakami san believes with patience and perseverance, all challenges can be overcame.
