Self Introduction of P-Mates new editor

Michiyo Kodama

My name is Michiyo Kodama and I work for the Human Resources Department. I joined Polyplastics last April. My duties include providing support for our employees stationed outside of Japan, and helping to acquire visas for Group employees visiting Japan.
In my work, I routinely exchange e-mails in English with the staff of our Group Companies, so I am studying English in addition to learning my work. I hope that working on P-Mates will also help to improve my English skills.
I look forward to making a contribution as a new member of the P-Mates editorial team.

Saori Kiyota

Hello, everyone. My name is Saori Kiyota, and I recently joined the P-Mates editorial team in June 2011. I have been working for the CSR & Corporate Communication Team of the General Administration Department since joining Polyplastics.
Through editing of P-Mates, I will do my best to bring an understanding of different cultures and values, in order to develop content that will be useful to the employees of the Polyplastics Group. I also hope to meet many of you one day.

On a personal note, I enjoy listening to music and look forward to talking about music with you.

Polyplastics’ Summer Festival in Fuji

Polyplastics recently held its annual Fuji Region Nouryou (Cool of a Summer Evening) Festival on Saturday, July 23, 2011. The festival featured many booths including the labor union-sponsored booth, which offered Frankfurter sausages and edamame at the bargain price of ¥100 each. The booth did great business and with the help of the cheery staff soon sold out of items.

In previous years, the festival has been held after sunset to go with the “cool of a summer evening” name, but this year the festival was held in the early evening due to various circumstances regarding with the Great East Japan Earthquake. There were concerns about the heat, but thanks to the dedicated work of the organizing committee staff, the festival was busy as well or better than previous years.

Blood Donation Campaign in Fuji

Polyplastics conducts regular blood donation campaign in the Fuji region, as part of its social contribution activities. In August 2011, a mobile blood donation unit from the Japanese Red Cross Blood Center came to our offices and many employees donated blood, urged on by our PA announcements. An adult male gives 400 ml of blood at a time, with the entire process taking just 25 minutes from interview to make a blood donation.

It is a great feeling to know that I can help save the life of another individual. If you have never made blood donation before, please give it a try. There are many patients who need your blood.
