RAMADAN BUBUR-LAMBUK (PORRIDGE)

In the spirit of going back to basics during Ramadan, over 20 Polyplastics Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd (PAP) employees prepared and cooked bubur- lambuk to provide their 215 colleagues with a simple and satisfying meal for breaking fast. The cooking program was organized by Sports & Recreation Club and In-House Union of PAP on 23 August 2011, in the holy month Ramadan.

The program is to show the support and appreciation to the staff for working just as hard during Ramadan. While a chef was called in to help with the cooking program, the 20 staff volunteers were the real stars of the event as they toil through the huge amount of ingredients such as potatoes, meat, vegetables, spices and rice. The preparation and cooking was done at an open area of Admin Building.

The volunteers started working from 10.00am by cutting, dicing, cleaning, washing and preparing the ingredients and by 12.30pm, the stoves were lit with five huge cauldrons sitting on top. The ingredients were poured in one by one with volunteers continuously stirring the bubur- lambuk to ensure that the ingredients were well mixed for better flavor.

According to a staff, Hasniza Abu Bakar, “This is my first time volunteering for the cooking program and I feel happy that I am able to contribute something to my colleagues.”

At 4.00pm, the volunteers packed the bubur- lambuk into 215 containers which were picked up by their colleagues as they left the office.
