GEBENG TOWN
In an effort to keep up with growth within the petrochemical industry, which has stimulated a multitude of employment opportunities for the local populace, the local authority has initiated the development of an integrated township Bandar Gebeng (Gebeng Town).

Spanning some 318 acres, Gebeng Town has all the makings of an ideal neighborhood. Easily accessible via the main Kuantan bypass and the Kuantan-Kemaman, Gebeng Town is located just minutes away from key areas such as Kuantan town and Kuantan Port, the alluring beaches of Cherating and the thriving petrochemical centers at the Gebeng and Kemaman Industrial Estates.

To be developed in the number of phases over a period of 15 years, Gebeng Town is a mixed development which comprises choice commercial and residential units, boasting of a wide range of amenities and facilities such as schools, shops, police station, school, a recreational park, Kuantan Manucipal Authority branch office and much more.

Besides Gebeng Town, Gebeng Industrial Estate earmarked for development for this very purpose, has so far contributed positively to Pahang State's push towards the rank of petrochemical forerunner in South East Asia, making the State a force to be reckoned with in this sector.

Since its inception in the late 70s, Gebeng Industrial Estate's development has been divided into four stages. Phase 1 involved an area of 700 acres, and Phase 2 covering 1,400 acres. As for Phase 3, one third of some 1,500 acres now site for PAP and another Germany-Malaysian join-venture company establishments, with another 1,000 acres available for development, including the latest Australian rare-earth plant now under construction. The eventual development of Phase 4, comprising another 5,000 acres, will bring the total land area scheduled for development to 9,600 acres.

In brief, Gebeng's future seems inevitable. Already base to some of the world's chemical and petrochemical forerunners such as Polyplastics, MTBE, Eastman, BP, BASF-Petronas, KANEKA, W.R. Grace and Cryovac, Gebeng continues to attract more attention with numerous other potential projects in the midst of construction. As for local authorities, they will continue to undertake necessary measures to maintain Gebeng's allure, ensuring its effective development and transforming it into one of the leading contributors, not just an industry, but especially in the field of chemical and petrochemical manufacture worldwide.
