Details on the Development of Technologies for Predicting Durability Life Spans of POM in Biofuels Released to the Newspapers

Global expectations are currently high with regard to the use of alcohol fuels (biofuels) produced with biomass from the viewpoint of environmental conservation. One of our main products, Polyacetal (POM), has superior levels of chemical resistance, and because of this is it used in a wide range of fuel products that come into direct contact with biofuels.

A vast number of practical experiments and durability evaluations have been carried out on this to ascertain safety levels when it is used in vehicle parts. However, evaluating durability life spans with regard to the many biofuels that exist requires an enormous amount of time and has always posed a problem. Approaching this problem from a macromolecular thermodynamic angle, we at Polyplastics were successful at developing the world's first technology for efficiently and accurately predicting the life span of this in biofuel.

The results of this were announced in a press release on February 19, and this generated extremely high media interest, with the details being reported in seven newspapers, two web mediums and three magazines. This technology has attracted attention from all over the world industries, and we have since been contacted by a large number of customers and received requests to hold presentations.
As members of the Polyplastics Group, we hope that everybody is justly proud of us being able to announce this amazing technology to the rest of the world.

Report on the PPC China Earthquake Charity

We extend our deepest condolences to the victims of the earthquake, and pray that the affected areas are restored to their former glory as swiftly as possible.

Working in collaboration with the Labor Union, Polyplastics initiated a charity collection aimed at all employees in the hope that we can provide relief to the many victims of this tragedy.

This has resulted in us collecting together a total sum of ¥131,192. Polyplastics will add ¥1,000,000 to this sum to bring it up to a total of ¥1,131,192, which is donated to the victims of the earthquake via the Japanese Red Cross Society.

We sincerely hope that this will help in some small way.

Installation of the PPG Report System

The PPG Report System (Polyplastics Group Report System) was initially installed in Polyplastics in December 2007, but from the end of June it will be installed throughout the entire Polyplastics Group.

The PPG Report System allows a wide variety of information from the entire group to be managed in a common database, such as the call reports, test reports and others that have been controlled by different software until now, and the customer information that each company in the group has been controlling independently. This new system is expected to provide the entire group with common access to and utilization promotion of information of every kind, as well as improvement of data control, usage and security. We are also proceeding with plans to upgrade the system to include other functions, such as a tri-lingual search engine (Japanese, English and Chinese,) and a database for handling web inquiries.

This is sure to be an extremely effective tool for accurately acquiring information on customers spread throughout the world, and for promoting the development of markets for the entire Polyplastics Group. We sincerely hope that all employees will take advantage of this system and use it to its fullest potential.
