A
fire causes damages to people's property even threaten
people's lives and safety. In Taiwan, many fires happen
on high-story building. The public is ignorant of fire-escape
skills, commonly resulting in the great extent of damage.
According to the regulations, the buildings below 11th
floor can select to fix a slow descending-device on
the outside wall for people fleeing from the burning
building. Therefore, how to properly use the descending-device
and increase concern for fire-escape skills becomes
very essential.
This October, PTW invited two firemen of fire bureau
to teach employees how to use a slow descending-device,
and then all the trainees practiced to lower themselves
by the device from a second-story office building.
For many employees, it is the first time to descend
by a rope and not by stairs. We must overcome the fear
of heights. Honestly speaking, it's not easy to release
our hand from railings while standing at the outside
of building. Some female staffs gripped a pillar of
the training platform for a long time. Whatever other
people said or encouraged them, they would not easily
let themselves go.
Plant manager and most of staffs participated this
training. Apparently, this time of training has evoked
everybody's interest. They proudly say they won't fear
while lowering from the heights next time. Even some
of them are eager to challenge from much higher-story
escape place.
