A joke about severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) disease has been recently dispersing in the Internet. SARS results in three kinds of death: One is being suffocated as wear all-day mask, another is being scared as watch TV news. The last is being beat with an incautious cough in a crowded elevator. Ha! Ha! Ha! Anyway, this exaggerated joke somewhat reacts to an absurd reality.

Over the past three months, SARS has swept across the world, not except of Taiwan. Since mid-April, Taiwan has been declared as a hot spot for SARS. Under this serious disease in this century, the public has been thrown into turmoil and panic. Nevertheless, immediately through all the people's might to battle the disease, now the ordeal is over, at least for now.

To protect others as well as ourselves, PTW has been conducting anti-SARS measures including wear facemasks, take body temperature, disinfect working surrounding, suspend nonessential visit and so on. We have been vigilant against SARS.
Amidst the outbreak of SARS, we experienced some crises of the much sought-after items, which are considered protections from the deadly virus. For instance, mask has been drastically in shortage. Fortunately, we were helped out with masks regularly supplied from the mother company, Polyplastics. In addition, thermometer is also the item that people rush to buy. With the plant manager, Mr. Fang's foresight, we purchased enough ear thermometers before they were run out. Furthermore, some fruits believed to have tonic effect against SARS are easily seen during our lunchtime such as mulberry, papaya, and pineapples. Garlic is also said to work tonical wonders. Fortunately again, our colleagues aren't crazy enough for it. Offices are only full of healthy, fragrant and warm atmosphere. (Can you image the smell of garlic breath?)
SARS spreading stirs our life, but doesn't stop our smile, trust and love. Do well the related precautionary measures and keep good mood (adding a little bit of humor). We are confident of conquering SARS! That is what PTW staffs ponder over.
