General Administration Department

General Administration Department is comprised of 12 staff members. The Department primarily carries out the following three units.

  1. Secretary
  2. Office Services and Facility Management
  3. Law and Corporate Communications

Mr. Shoichi Yoshikawa, Executive Officer, General Manager of General Administration Dept., is the man who brings together all the members of these three groups, takes charge of overall responsibility for the work of General Administration Department, and splendidly resolves problems when there are conflicts of interest with other departments for each section's work.

GM Yoshikawa is also the executive officer responsible for the Raw Materials Purchasing Department. Mr. Yoshikawa is in charge of two entirely different departments, and he is therefore always busy making the rounds in the company on a daily basis. Although some aspects of his work are indeed tough, he is normally a very cheerful person, and he is also the so-called "mood maker" of General Administration Department. He is also a very talkative person, and this certainly makes for lively occasions at parties by way of his enjoyable conversation.

Mr. Yoshinori Nakamura heads up the four-member secretarial work team, and he enjoys the able assistance of Ms. Yume Uno, Ms. Ai Fujii, and Ms. Mayu Ogawa. The secretarial office's work entails coordinating and preparing the schedules of management executives. The four team members take care of nine management executives in their Tokyo office.

Management executive and secretarial offices are located on 7th floor, which is separated from the 6th floor that is home to other staff members. As only four secretarial staff and management executives are resident on this floor, it is a very quite place, but when board meetings and other executive officer meetings are held, comings and goings multiply, and the floor becomes very dynamic. At these times, under the leadership of the strong-voiced manager Mr. Nakamura, Ms. Uno, Ms. Fujii, and Ms. Ogawa go about their work in a brisk manner.

The four-member team in charge of office service and facility management includes Ms. Keiko Kurata, Ms. Naoko Yamamoto, Mr. Hiroshi Kinoshita, and Ms. Chikako Hayakawa, who often appears as the reader model on the cover of P-Mates. These four members play a back up role for the activities of various other company departments, including arranging equipment and other fittings, arranging postal services, arranging company housing, and arranging transportation. As all headquarters functions have been shifted from Osaka to Tokyo, the number of staff members located at the Tokyo headquarters has increased¡¡dramatically compared with five years ago, and while it may be expected that the general affairs workload has grown in line with this, the number of staff in the department has remained unchanged. This can probably be attributed to the facts that the four staff members have worked hard to enhance operational efficiency, and that work efficiency has been improved due to diffusion of the company intranet. The overall head of the Administration Department, Mr. Yoshinori Nakamura, also serves as the head of office service and facility management section within the department. In times of crisis, the four staff members can be seen briskly going about their work together with the loud voice of manager Nakamura.

Mr. Akira Munakata is working for the legal section and the corporate communications of the company with his colleagues, Mr. Osamu Oishi and Mr. Fumiharu Yokoi. Mr. Munakata has sustained the legal section for a considerable period, and under his guiding leadership Mr. Oishi, who has diversified experience from human resources through to accounting, and Mr. Yokoi, who is also the editor of P-Mates, support the business of Polyplastics from a legal perspective.

The currently most important issue is to establish the compliance management policy for all the group companies and to ensure the implementation. The number of overseas subsidiaries of Polyplastics is increasing, and in these days where offshore business is expanding from Japan as joint venture companies start up overseas, there are numerous scenarios where legal knowledge is required in negotiations overseas and with other companies. Everybody relies on the legal section staff members in such cases. We are retaining outside attorneys to perform the mission.
