PMT celebrates its 20th Anniversary! /

Topics PMT Vol.75

On 10th October 2016, PMT office reached its 20th birthday, and we arranged a commemoration ceremony to make a merit, which, in Buddhism, is a widely recognized concept of a power that accumulates as a result of good acts, thoughts, etc.

In the past years, we would celebrate PMT’s birthdays by paying our respect to the Shire in front of the building. (Attach the photo of Shire).
But since we reached a major milestone of 20th anniversary this year, we took this opportunity as a good chance for PMT to do a special Buddhist ceremony at our office.

The ceremony started in the morning with all PMT members together by paying our respect to the Shire at 9 O’clock. Then we got engaged in philanthropy for the Thai Buddhist monk wishing for our good luck on our business and PMT members. After that we offered food to the monk. This act is called " Tha Wai Pen " meaning giving alms to the monk. Offering food is one of the common rituals of Thai Buddhist. We offered food to not only the monk on their alms round but also to our ancestors and hungry ghosts. Offering food is a meritorious act that also reminds us not to be greedy or selfish. After the meal, The Monk sprinkled the holy water around the PMT office and anointed the company sign in front of our office with white clay filler.

In Buddhism, it is believed that anointing brings us fortune and that it also protects us from misfortune.

Besides, we held a birthday party for the staffs who had their birthdays between quarter 2 and 3 by having lunch together and blowing out the candles on the big birthday cake in the afternoon.

I am very thankful of PMT for giving us many opportunities to get to know our colleagues, and to make merits.

I believe that there will be good fortune to PMT from now and forever.
