P-Mates Special Magazine Edition "PAP Kuantan Plant" Completed! /

News 4 Vol.75

"Unfortunately there's been another incident of wrongdoing, but we all want to support the PAP Kuantan Plant," "We want everyone to continue working with pride and satisfaction as members of the Kuantan Plant." These sentiments led us to start up a project at the end of last year to create "something special that demonstrates our pride in the company we work for to our families and friends." Among the many ideas that were proposed, we finally decided on producing a special magazine for P-Mates featuring the Kuantan Plant. We spent a year putting together the magazine and we've finally completed it!

The proposal prepared by the newsletter team at the Tokyo head office was brought to Mr. Hayashi at the PAP KL office in the early spring. After discussing the proposal, it was decided that 6 employees in the administration and personnel departments at the Kuantan Plant would participate as editors.

The proposal at that time was as follows.

(1) Cover:A group photo will be taken inside the company grounds of as many of the Kuantan Plant employees as possible to show our "Polyplastics-Family" spirit.

(2) Voices of the Employees:Several interviews will be conducted in which employees express in their own words their pleasure and satisfaction in working at the plant. The interviews will be printed on the main page.

(3) Top Message and Worksite Photos:The top message and new photos of the company grounds will be taken to give the employees re-awareness of the merits of their company and worksites.

(4) Fact Data:Data summarizing the Polyplastics business will be prepared to give employees an understanding of the Polyplastics business. The data will include the fact that the PAP Kuantan Plant is the world’s largest POM plant!

(5) A large poster of the group photo on the cover for display within the company building.

In addition, PAP requested that they be allowed to use the proposed magazine for distribution at job recruitment fairs as a job recruitment tool. In view of this objective, Career Development, Company Benefits, and Team Building Activities pages were added、and also a map of highlights in Kuantan was put on the back cover.
News materials were gathered in Kuantan at the end of June, as reported in the last issue of P-Mates. It was right at the time of Ramadan, the month of fasting for people of the Muslim faith, but everyone at the Kuantan Plant did everything possible to cooperate in the news gathering effort.

I am grateful to Mr. Shirai and Mr. Sim who contributed the Top Messages, all of the people who cooperated in giving interviews, and Mr. Hayashi and all of the people on the editorial team who made great efforts to make the project a success. I especially will not forget the people who gave up their days off to accompany us when we went to take photographs outside of Kuantan!
