Annual Emergency Drill /

Topics PTW Vol.73

We held the fire-drill twice in this April, using simulated fire caused by methanol, to test emergency response and make sure all the staffs are aware of the process of reporting the situations and acting in case of emergencies.

We practiced a hypothetical methanol leakage mainly caused by human errors. All the plant staffs were assigned to handle a mock emergency situation. Although the drill was carried out smoothly along the script prepared in advance, it took too long for each responsible team to arrive at the scene and take necessary actions. We took this opportunity to fine-tune the relative responses towards emergency situation. Two firemen from Fire Bureau adjacent to the Dafa plant were present at the drill as mentor and auditor. Besides, they taught our first-aid personnel about real practice and gave a guidance of CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation).

After tallying up the performance of the drill, Mr. Hsieh, plant manager, gave 70 points out of 100 to the plant’s workers for their performance in the drill. He stressed the need for every staff to play their roles in keeping safety concern, protecting our workplaces as well as sustainable plant business.
