Hua Hin Railway Station/

COLUMN PMT Vol.73

Hua Hin station is one of the oldest and most beautiful railway stations in Thailand. The station is located near “The Royal Hua Hin Golf Course” in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

The current station building we can see today was built in 1926, in the order of Prince Burachatchaikan who served as a commander of Siam Railway at that time. The half-timbered buildings were partly influenced by the Victorian Maria architectural style, and the combination of cream color walls and red timbers makes the building very unique and beautiful. The ornamental pillars are also something you should see when you visit the station.
In 1968, the Colonel Sang Chulajit, Siam Railway ‘s e commander of the time, moved “ Sanam Chan Pavilion” which had been located in the Sanam Chan Palace to Hua Hin station, to use it as a reception area for the King when he traveled by train. The construction was done by craftsmen in Thailand.

Hua Hin people are really proud of the station. It also serves a s a repository of an old 305 Unit Baldwin steam locomotive, which has an important value in the Railway history of Thailand.
