Joint Exposition with the Daicel Group
2011 AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING EXPOSITION

A joint exposition, “2011 AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING EXPOSITION,” was held in Japan, and Polyplastics participated in this with Daicel Chemical Industries and Daicel-Evonik.

The exposition, which focuses on automotive technology and targets professional engineers and researchers working on the front line of the automotive industry, is becoming bigger in scale and with broader content year by year—this year saw the addition of an EV & HEV workshop.
The exposition had fewer visitors than in normal years, which was no doubt a consequence of the earthquake. Even so, a total of 52,308 people came to the venue over the three-day period and learned about the latest new technologies exhibited by the each company.

New Employee Welcoming Ceremony & Introduction of New Employees

On April 1, the welcoming ceremony for new employees was held in the TSC seminar room.
This year, 16 new employees joined the family of Polyplastics employees. After eight days of group training in matters including business manners, company rules and regulations, and industrial safety, the new employees were assigned to each department. The future of Polyplastics will rest on the shoulders of these new employees, so we encourage them to be diligent in their work.

Introducing three of the new employees

Kohshi Mioki, Technical Solution Center

I’ve been assigned to the Design / Property Group of TSC. Right now I’m still undergoing training and am in the process of learning the basics of each field from the ground up. Everything I see and hear is new to me and fascinating, so I’m very excited. All of the people I work with kindly give me all the help they can, so everyday my work is enjoyable and I’m able to give it my best. There are so many things I still don’t understand, but I want to be able to stand on my own two feet as soon as possible. In particular, I’ll be working in molding after finishing my training and I want to work hard so that I can become a specialist in molding.

Satoko Inaba, Human Resources Dept.

My work involves social insurance and salary payment processing.
If I make even one mistake in social insurance collection or salary computation it will be a loss for the company and the employees and a lot of trouble, so anyway I’ll be checking and rechecking many times to make sure the forms I’ve processed are accurate. I’ll also use a calculator to cross check the totals I’ve computed on the computer.
There are a lot of terms I’m hearing for the first time now that I’ve become a part of the working world. I have to learn about legal matters, too, so I guess I’ll be a little confused for a while. I’ll work hard and do everything I can to improve so that as soon as possible I can work independently without having to rely on other people to help me.

Kohhei Akiyama, Production Dept.

It’s been about two months since I joined the company. During these two months, I’ve been learning about the basics of the Duracon manufacturing process and safety.  My instructors have explained things and I’ve toured the worksite, but there are still a lot of things I don’t understand so I’ve got a lot to learn. But If I don’t learn everything that’s necessary, daily work operations won’t go smoothly. From now on I’ll be working on the 8-hour shift system. I want to learn the work as soon as possible so that daily operations go smoothly. I’ll also be following the safety rules every day so that no accidents occur during work.

One-Year "Home Energy-Saving Project" Implemented

In an effort to contribute to global warming prevention, PPC promoted a home energy-saving project for one year from April 2010 to February 2011. The project, called “Energy-Saving in the Home,” was a company-wide effort.
A special database was prepared for the project and it was implemented by the unit responsible for the project with the cooperation of the persons in each department who were put in charge of the project. In the one-year period, the project was successful in reducing a total of 13,661.30 kilograms of carbon dioxide.
Just a little effort on the part of each employee can make a big difference. We encourage all employees to continuing practicing energy-saving measures from now on, too.

(Average)
Reduction Goal: 1,524 kilograms
Reduction Performance: 1,376 kilograms
Number of Participants: 1,668 people
