PAP makes a bigger celebration of Safety Day in 2011 with the join coordination between the In-House Union (IHU), SHE Dept. and Sports & Recreation Club (SRC). The theme “Towards a Common Goal” is to reflect the commitment from all parties in PAP from the top management to the lower level including the contractors, family members and to the stake holder. This year’s event was officiated by the PAP Assistance Managing Director Mr. Sim Ah Siang. In his opening speech he hoped that the safety related matters will always be the priority for everyone and for all who are working in PAP to aware of the risk involved in the job to be done, taking necessary precautions and properly supervised. New steps taken in PAP in 2011 with the TBM/KY, assessment, safety patrol activities and continuous education especially to the newly joined staff and contractors are being implemented on order to keep the target of zero incident and zero lost time injury.
 PAP IHU always support and push towards more safety commitment from the management by providing resources and the right facility at the work place. IHU President Mr. Zaharuddin Hashim in his speech also given assurance that the union members will always strive to work safely in achieving the company safety target. IHU will assist the company by giving the feedback through the many channels such as UAUC, participating in the Safety Committee and through the IHU-Management meetings.
 The date for the event was selected on Saturday May 21st 2011 and weekend gives the chance for the family members to come to the event. The activities conducted were exhibition by the government agencies (road safety, Department of Occupational Safety & Health, National Anti Drugs Agency, Fire Brigade, Department of Environment, Social Security Organization and Public Defense). Health talks were conducted by the Doctor from the nearby hospital. Blood donation was also organized to reflect PAP staff and contractors commitment to ensure adequate supply to the blood bank in saving the lives of the unfortunate.
Plant tour by a chartered bus was another attraction to the family members and children to give the true picture where is their father of mother is working in PAP. This will also act as an inspirational of motivational factor for the children to be when they enter the working life. The event went on until 3pm in the afternoon and everyone was satisfied with the many smiling faces with many new experiences in attending PAP Safety Day 2011.
