2011 South China Technical Salon

By Zalman Lai, PCL

The 2011 South China Technical Salon was held in Parkview Hotel in Dongguan on April 12-13.  It is an event somehow similar to our Innovation Show in Japan.  I am the overall organizer responsible for the coordination of all matters related to this project.  I would like to share with you about what I saw and experienced which, I believe, was very valuable for the company – the spirit of working as a team (reflection of the Polyplastics-Family).

Participation by All
The key point of this event was invitation of guests (Distributors, Molders and End Users).  In addition, supports from China TSC (for technical information) and local staff to attend guests during the Salon were also very important.  In other word, we need cooperation from all staff in South and East China.  What we actually experienced was that our local Sales in South China worked diligently inviting customers for the Salon.  China TSC took a major role to support the contents of the Salon (Posters and also presentation information), supporting staff helped in registration and other particulars.  Staff from TSC and also Sales staff from Shanghai came to South China to be responsible for explaining contents of Posters to guests, so local Sales in South China can concentrate their effort with customer invitation.  In effect, we see a picture that staff from various offices (Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong) worked together for the same target – promoting our company image.

Meeting New Challenge
As for the presentation speakers, the idea was to give opportunity to our staff to expand their exposure to new things and also gives our staff challenge so he can upgrade himself.  Our staff took this challenge positively and worked hard to prepare for the presentation.  In order to support our speaker, we help him in preparing the presentation contents.  In addition, we arranged 3 sessions training on presentation technique and going through the presentation with him.  Even during the day of Technical Salon, our other staff supporting him by giving encouragement.  As a result, his presentation went smoothly and customers gave good comments on his presentation – we experienced the power of encouragement through this project.

Conclusion
We believe the South China Technical Salon was successful.  The success was not only the customers attendance was satisfactory but also the spirit of cooperation among staff.  We witnessed and experienced our team work and oneness – all staff worked together supporting and encouraging each other unselfishly for the same goal.  I believe this is a true reflection of the spirit of Polyplastics-Family.
