PAP Starts Daily Morning Exercise

It has been long 11 years since the influx of PAP core personnel to PPC Fuji Plant to start their training for the construction and operation of Malaysia Plant. Besides the plant operation and safety training, we still remember attending to the morning exercise conducted next to the Admin GAD Building, Maintenance House and at the respective Control Rooms for the Process and Energy Group. Funny but it's true, we failed to conduct the daily exercise at Malaysia Plant after we returned maybe due to too much commitment to the plant and quality matters until recently when the plant was stopped due to the global recession.

Our PGM concern with the gradually increasing insurance premium cost and several hospitalization cases prompted for the daily exercise program to be introduced. As most of the plant activities concentrating with the manual job, one has to be fit to prevent internal muscle strain and other ergonomics related injury. Ergonomics study has also indicated light stretches prior to start routine job will minimized the possibility of injury and muscle strain.

SHE Dept. has been given the task to initiate the Daily Exercise Program and the program started in early April 2009. We appointed experienced trainers from SHE (Mr. Aziz) and L&P Dept. (Mr. Zainal) to teach basic movements from head to toe to train the individual trainers for the respective Sections. The training took two weeks to be completed and by Mid April 2009, we launched the program plant wide. There are currently six exercise locations where no one is exempted from. The exercise areas are: Admin, ME, EI, QA, FPP, CCB (NPP+Utility) and L&P Warehouse.

The program has so far improves the morale of staff by having common activities with their leaders, giving healthy feeling from the light stretches and most importantly to instill the discipline to be on time as it starts exactly at 0800hr whereby latecomers will be noticed by all.

The commitment from all ensures the program to continue and to produce healthy workers for the high quality Polyplastics products.
